An important part of being a Christian is to give God’s love back to the community, our country and as far as our mission dollars, hands, and prayers are able to reach. Our mission work is given from the heart, with hands and body able to help those who need it the most.
EPC offers numerous volunteer opportunities through our sponsorship and direct, hands-on mission work:
P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) homeless shelter site is housed in the basement (lower level) of EPC every Saturday night from October through April. We feed and house approximately 38-59 individual men and women each weekend. EPC staffs the shelter every fifth Saturday night of any given month, however, four other Elmhurst churches volunteer to work the remaining Saturday evenings. Church members may volunteer time, supplies and meals to support this important ministry. We accept warm clothing, coats, socks, hats, gloves, travel-size soaps, shampoo, etc. for our site supplies when operational (October-April). http://dupagepads.org/
COLLECTING AND DELIVERING FOOD TO THE NEEDY
EPC donates food and money every month to local food pantries such as Yorkfield and Hillside Presbyterian Church. During the summer months, EPC Children’s Garden also contributes fresh vegetables to several local pantries, along with non-perishables.
The Ray Graham Association has been empowering people with disabilities since 1950.
SERVING, HELPING, CLEAN-UP, REBUILDING
Volunteers travel to work in disaster locations in the United States through the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. They help in the rehabilitation of houses from floods and hurricane.
Our mission trips take needed supplies and fellowship to our sister church in Guines, Cuba.
EPC also supports these Presbytery U.S.A. missions through our special offerings that contribute to the greater Presbyterian Mission Agency.
