Sue
McCurdy and her family have lived in Elmhurst for 28 years. Her
husband, Dave, is an ordained minister and is an Ethicist for a
local hospital system. Their daughter, Margaret (24) is in graduate
school studying micro-biology and their son, Doug, (18) is a senior
in high school.
Sue
graduated from Elmhurst College with a degree in Christian
education.
During the
last 28 years, Sue has been the Coordinator of Children’s Ministries
at three churches: Southminster Presbyterian Church in Arlington
Heights, Berkeley-Hillside Presbyterian Church, and Elmhurst
Presbyterian Church.
Sue’s
vision for the Christian education ministry at EPC is to have at its
core the message of God’s love. Her goal is to offer a program that
gives children hope, ways to live peacefully with others, ways they
can learn the stories from the Bible in a fun, creative, and
meaningful way and a place where they learn ways to build their
relationship with God. And, she is working to make church a place
where children look forward to coming, enjoy being, want to tell
their friends about, and invite their friends to come.
A former
“professional” dog walker, Sue and her family’s home are filled with
all kinds of pets. And, she likes to knit, sew, travel, and spend
time with her family.
